Evelyn Sutherland wanders into the formal lounge looking sheepish, after my interview with Jack.
EVELYN: Sorry about my brother. He can be... a bit on edge sometimes.
AD: It's fine. Some people find interviews a little daunting. Thank you for meeting with me.
EVELYN: (Her face lights up) Oh, it's an absolute pleasure. I love doing interviews! And please, call me Evi.
AD: Well Evi, how are you finding Evergreen?
EVELYN: I am thrilled to be here! (Her enthusiastic, lively energy brightens the room) It's taken years to get here and to be perfectly honest, I can't quite believe it. Evergreen - who'd have thought we'd be moving here, only a few hours from where we lived before we moved to Australia? And now we're back, and things are getting close - real close. My twin brother's happiness means the absolute world to me.
AD: I'm not sure I follow - what do you mean by 'things are getting close'?
EVELYN: Oh, I'm sorry (she suddenly appears nervous and withdrawn). I spoke out of line (laughs anxiously). I'm just super pleased to be here. And the house... yes, it's getting close to finished... ahhh, that's what I meant. Rebecca and Lily have worked so hard on the house and garden.
AD: Right, okay then. Are you looking forward to starting school on Monday?
EVELYN: I can't wait! I'm tickled pink about it, especially making new friends. I'm very much a people person.
AD: I understand you were the one that wanted to move to Evergreen. Is that right?
EVELYN: Yes, I... ahhh... my parents are very supportive of us. As a family, we kind of decide together where we live. We tend to move a lot.
AD: That's interesting. Another girl I interviewed mentioned her family move around a lot. Livia Armstrong, have you met her?
EVELYN: No, I... ahhh, I haven't. But I look forward to meeting her. Does she attend Evergreen High School?
AD: Yes, she does. Perhaps you'll cross paths at school.
EVELYN: Absolutely! I mean, probably (she shrugs). It's a pretty small school I believe.
AD: What was it about Evergreen that enticed you to want to move here?
EVELYN: The beauty and natural surroundings of the area. It's quite spectacular, don't you think?
AD: Yes, it's lovely. The Rocky Mountains are beautiful, but surely it was more than the natural habitat that attracted you?
EVELYN: The feel of the place. It's... it's special.
AD: What did you think of Australia?
EVELYN: I can't believe I kept missing... I mean, I'll miss certain aspects but I very much love being here in Evergreen.
Have we almost finished? (She checks her watch) I'm terribly sorry to do this but I do have to go... prepare for starting school on Monday. You understand don't you?
AD: Of course. I hope it goes well for you.
EVELYN: Oh, it will, I'm sure. I have a really good feeling about it. Take care. Ciao.
(Evelyn flitted out the door, waving back, before I had a chance to comment).
